AT GEORGIA STATE:
Versatile athlete who is expected to
contribute at wide receiver in his final season ... Former quarterback
who has also worked at safety .... The third-leading rusher in GSU
history with 1,044 career yards, along with 1,161 yards passing.
Has three runs of more than 50 yards, including a 52-yard run
against St. Francis (2011) and then a 53-yard touchdown run one
week later at West Alabama (2011). Also had a 53-yarder against
Lambuth in 2010 ... Also has one of the longest passes in GSU
history with a 78-yard touchdown throw ... Has two games with
more than 100 yards rushing and passing.
Signed in 2009 as part of Georgia State’s inaugural recruiting
class after an all-state prep career ... Practiced with the team in
2009-10 ... Made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the spring
2012 and spring 2013 semesters.
2012:
Played primarily wide receiver and caught 11 passes
for 96 yards ... Saw his first action at receiver against UTSA and
then caught his first pass against Richmond ... Also had seven
kickoff returns for an 18.6-yard average ... Came off the bench at
quarterback in the season opener against South Carolina State,
when he was 7-for-13 for 76 yards with one interception.
2011:
Starting quarterback for the final five games of the
season ... Passed for 1,021 yards and 11 touchdowns while
completing 54 percent of his passes ... The team’s second-leading
rusher with 609 yards and four touchdowns on 103 carries (5.9-
yard average) ... Averaged 294 yards of total offense for his five
starts (187.4 passing, 96.4 rushing) ... Eight of his 11 TD passes
went for more than 30 yards, including five of longer than 50 yards.
Finished the season by averaging 221.1 yards passing and
146.5 yards rushing over the last two games with five TD passes
and three TD rushing ... Rushed for a then GSU-record 152 yards
on 19 carries with two touchdowns against West Alabama. Also
passed for a career-high 228 yards and one touchdown in the game
... Tied the GSU record with four touchdown passes in the season-
ending win over Campbell. Passed for 213 yards and rushed for
141 yards and a touchdown, setting a school record with five TDR.
Named FCS Independent Player of the Week by College Sports
Madness.
Made his first start against South Alabama and led GSU to
an overtime win. Went 12-for-15 for 209 yards and two TD passes
while rushing 14 times for 45 yards ... His two touchdown passes
against South Alabama covered 78 and 64 yards, both to Albert
Wilson, at the time the two longest pass plays in GSU history ...
Rushed for 94 yards on 16 carries against S.C. State ... Threw his
first career touchdown pass against Murray State with a 43-yard
completion to Danny Williams.
2010:
Backup quarterback who played in every game off the
bench, providing a spark with his running ability ... The leading
rusher for GSU’s inaugural team with 416 yards, averaging 6.9
yards per carry with three TD ... Completed five of 15 passes for 64
yards.
Season-high 95 yards rushing on just six carries in win over
Savannah State. Scored on an eight-yard run ... Followed with 71
yards on nine carries against N.C. Central.
Against South Alabama, his five-yard scoring run brought the
Panthers within 39-34 with four minutes to play. Set up another
fourth-quarter touchdown with a 20-yard pass, his longest
completion of the season, to Travis Evans down to the 1-yard line.
Ignited GSU’s third-quarter rally against Lambuth, leading
two touchdown drives. Set up the Panthers’ first score with a
53-yard run down to the 2-yard line. Began GSU’s next scoring
drive with a 14-yard completion ... 53-yard run against Lambuth
was GSU’s longest run from scrimmage.
GSU’s second-leading rusher in the inaugural game victory
over Shorter with 48 yards on seven carries. Scored on a 24-yard
run late in the game ... Rushed for 30 yards against Alabama.
Completed 8-of-14 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns
while gaining 30 yards on two runs in the 2010 Spring Scrimmage
... One of four signal callers who competed for the starting job in
the 2010 preseason.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Signed with the Panthers in 2009 after
being tabbed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Georgia 150
... First-team all-state selection in Class AAAA by the AJC ...
Accounted for 30 touchdowns (rushing and passing) as a senior
... Passed for 2,149 yards and rushed for 1,012 yards, both school
records ... As a junior, completed 160 of 240 passes for 1,844 yards
with 15 touchdown passes while rushing for 676 yards and nine
scores ... Played for coach Steve Horton at Lithia Springs High
School ... First-team all-region as a senior ... Offensive Player of
the Year in Douglas County ... Top game was against McIntosh,
when he amassed 517 yards of total offense (349 yards passing and
168 yards rushing) and accounted for five touchdowns ... Four
300-yard passing games, five games with at least 100 yard rushing,
and three games with five touchdowns ... Three-time all-county
selection ... Coca-Cola Golden Helmet Award for accomplishment
