ony Tiller, a former professional
football player in the National
Football League and Canadian
Football League, is in his first year at
Georgia State as running backs coach.
Tiller was the final coaching hire for head
coach Trent Miles in his first season in
Atlanta.
Tiller spent the 2012 season as an
assistant coach at Reinhardt University in

Waleska, Ga., a startup program that will
begin play at the NAIA level in 2013.
“Tony is a young coach with an
extremely bright future,” Miles said. “He
has a lot of energy, he relates well with
young men, and he will do an outstanding
job in recruiting, which is always our
focus. He brings a great knowledge of
the game as someone who has played at a
high level.”
After completing an all-conference
career at East Tennessee State, Tiller spent
time on the roster of the Kansas City
Chiefs in 2004-05 before moving to the
CFL, where he played defensive back for
the B.C. Lions, Calgary Stampeders and
Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Tiller then played with the Atlanta
Falcons in the 2009 preseason. He also
spent time in the United Football League.
Born in Melbourne, Fla., Tiller
attended Stephenson High School in
the Atlanta area. He worked with the
Stephenson program as a volunteer
assistant coach from 2008-11.
He earned his bachelor of science in
sport management from East Tennessee
State in 2004.
