uke Huard, formerly the offensive
coordinator and quarterbacks
coach at Illinois State, joined the
Georgia State coaching staff for the 2013
season as the quarterbacks coach under
head coach Trent Miles.
Huard spent the last four seasons at
Illinois State, including one year (2009)
as quarterbacks coach before he was
elevated to offensive coordinator for the
last three seasons (2010-12).
In 2012, Huard’s unit led the Missouri
Valley Football Conference in passing
and total offense as the Redbirds averaged
better than 30 points a game while
compiling a 9-4 record and advancing to
the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.
In his four years at ISU, Huard
developed quarterback Matt Brown, who
was the MVFC Newcomer of the Year in
2009, a three-time all-conference honoree
and the MVFC Offensive Player of the
Year in 2012.
He previously worked with Miles at
Washington, where Huard served as a
graduate assistant in 2007-08.
While at Washington, Huard worked
with the Huskies’ quarterbacks, including
current Tennessee Titans’ signal caller
Jake Locker, who was the Pac-10
Newcomer of the Year in 2007.
Huardbeganhis coaching career as the
offensive coordinator and quarterbacks
coach at Tacoma’s Washington High
School following graduation from North
Carolina in 2002. He then spent four
seasons as the head coach at Interlake
High School (Wash.), where he led the
program to its first winning season in 10
years in 2004.
In 2004, he also served as offensive
coordinator and quarterbacks coach for
the Eastside Hawks, a semi-professional
football team that went 10-0 and won the
Northwest Football League title.
Huard was a three-year member of
the North Carolina football team. As a
quarterback, he played in seven games for
the Tar Heels, including four starts, as a
freshman in 1999.
As a high school quarterback at
Puyallup (Wash.) High School, Huard was
Washington’s Gatorade Player of the Year

and an honorable mention All-America
selection as a senior.
Huard comes from a football family.
Both of his older brothers, Brock and
Damon, were standout quarterbacks
at Washington and went on to play
professionally in the NFL. Huard’s father,
Mike, coached all three sons at Puyallup
High School, where he also coached
future NFL quarterback Billy Joe Hobert.
Huard is married to the former Dolly
Tan.
