ocated just minutes from the Georgia State campus in downtown
Atlanta, the Georgia Dome is the home of Panther football. On Sept. 2,
2010, a crowd of 30,237 fans watched Georgia State’s inaugural game
as the Panthers defeated Shorter 41-7.
The Georgia Dome has hosted two Super Bowls, four NCAA Basketball Final
Fours and the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. In addition to GSU Football, the
Dome is home to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, the Chick-Fil-A
Kickoff Game and the SEC Championship.
Opened in 1992, the Georgia Dome is the
largest cable-supported domed stadium
in the world. The building covers
8.9 acres and contains 1.6
million square feet on all
seven levels.
